VICTOR, RETAIL ASSISTANT AT DECATHLON IN DUNKIRK
I’m 23 years old. I started diving 4 years ago during my internship, when I had an opportunity to get certified; I took advantage of it, and today I'm a level 1 diver. So that's how I started diving and I've keep it up since then.

WHAT DO YOU DO AT DECATHLON ?
I joined Decathlon 3 years ago, mostly to work in the diving department. I currently work 35 hours per week at the store of Dunkirk. In addition to the diving department, I also work in the “surf sports” department (surfing, water skiing etc.).
WHAT DO YOU LIKE ABOUT SCUBA DIVING ?
What fascinates me the most about diving is the discovery of the seabed with the flora and fauna. It's a sport that completely frees your mind and lets you feel detached from everything. Also, you can dive with anyone, even if you don't have the same language or culture : thanks to our international system of hand signs, regardless of where or whith whom we're diving, we always manage to understand each other. That's really one of the strengths of diving.

WHAT'S YOUR MOST BEAUTIFUL MEMORY OF AN UNDERWATER EXPERIENCE ?
My best memory is certainly from wreck: the discovery of relics that can be found in water on shipwrecks or even just the flora and fauna.
HOW DO YOU FEEL ABOUT THE IDEA OF BECOMING A SUB-EDITOR ?
It's a step forward for me to become a contributor/editor. Indeed, I first started as a retail assistant, then I became a diving instructor. It's an evolution, and I'm proud to have this mission today. Finally, it means being able to explain to people unfamiliar with diving, that this is really a sport that anyone can enjoy !
