HOW TO INSTALL A REEL ON YOUR SPEARFISHING SPEARGUN

OUR TIPS ON HOW TO INSTALL A REEL ON YOUR SPEARGUN!

The process explained!

You will need a reel, a crimp, wire cutters, flat nose pliers, a hammer, a lighter and a centre punch or other tool that can be used to push in two pins.

First, cut the monofilament attached to the muzzle of your speargun and shorten it by a few centimetres. Feed the monofilament through the first hole of the crimp, make a little loop and then pass it back through the second hole. Use a lighter to burn the protruding end. This will hold your monofilament in place.

Use your cutters to make several notches in the crimp to stop the line from moving. They can be perpendicular or parallel.

Hold the reel and remove the two pins using flat nose pliers. Slide it into the rail near the handle. Insert the pins using a hammer to gently tap the centre punch or similar object.

Once the reel is secure, release the line and pass it through the muzzle of your speargun. Now simply connect your line to your monofilament with a bowline knot. You can also add a swivel between the two, which will make it easier to release the spear if it gets stuck in a hole or simply to remove a fish.

Your speargun is now ready for use!
