HOW TO CHANGE THE BARB OF YOUR SPEARFISHING SPEAR
A barb is a small piece of metal just near the end of the spear. When it comes into contact with the fish, the barb comes out. When the spear goes through the fish, the barb comes out right at the moment of contact, ensuring the spear doesn't come loose.
OUR TIPS ON CHANGING A BARB ON YOUR SPEARFISHING SPEAR!
To get started, you'll need a barb, your pin, pliers, and a hammer.
Before you begin, make sure the old barb has been properly removed, and that the pin is no longer on your spear.
Position the barb and the new pin on the spear.
You must now flatten the part of the pin that is not already flat using a hammer. This means you need to lightly flatten the pin by tapping in a circular manner.
Now adjust your barb so that it remains in the open position when you lift it with your palm. This will prevent fish from becoming unhooked when you pull on your spear to bring it back to you.
We also recommend slightly lifting the tip of the barb with a pair of pliers.
Your spear is now ready to use!
